I enjoyed this experience because I have needed to make a Twitter account to use professionally for a while. I had a Twitter account a while ago, but honestly, I used it to keep up news and a few of my favorite celebrities. Last semester I took part in TLChat through my librarian practicum course and that all takes place on Twitter weekly. I used my old Twitter account for that, but this class motivated me to make a professional account. I hope to be more active on Twitter with this account and follow people/authors who post pertinent information for my new career as a librarian. I loved connecting with my classmates and looking through what they posted. I am going to have to be careful and watch my time with reading their posts though, because I got very into them!
I downloaded hootsuite to my phone, but I don't think I will use it much because I use all of my social media apps for different things. I use facebook to share stories/news of interest and make an occasional status update or share a pic or two of my son. Instagram is by far my favorite of the social media choices, as I don't feel guilty about posting pictures of my son or sharing a video, since that is the entire basis of the site. I also really enjoy following my friends' videos and photos with out weeding through the stories/updates I don't necessarily want to see. I will use Twitter professionally to keep up with things that will help enhance my knowledge of my career. Twitter's character restraints are hard for me because I like to go into detail and
I do like Zite. It reminds me a little of Buzzfeed the way it is set up with you getting to choose what you want to see. I loved getting to share articles quickly from the app. I also loved the articles it offered. I can see myself becoming very much involved with this app! In the past week I have noticed the twitter app logo on many websites I've visited. I don't think I had been so aware of it before.
I will definitely make more of an effort to be active on Twitter to improve my relationships with my colleagues, get ideas for my profession, and stay in touch with the new trends in education and technology!
