Final Reflection: Vanity Search

I was proud of not having any digital footprint to begin the class with. I value my privacy, and I was pretty impressed with my ability to lock up my accounts and keep them private. I worry about exposing my family to the internet with the dangers that lurk out there! I have a personal blog, Pinterest, Faceboook, and a personal Twitter page, and none of those popped up on my round one vanity search.

This time when I did my vanity search typing in Amy Milstead, my eportfolio came up!

I have been working on it, because I am hoping to graduate in August (if the Research class doesn't kill me first!) It actually was pretty cool that it came up because that is a tool I want to professionally speak for me. I'm really excited about it showing up on the first page of the search.

I typed in my Twitter handle amilstead1 and it came up with my Twitter feed. Since that is my professional Twitter page, I am happy that it popped up as well.  I would like to make more of a professional digital footprint through the next chapter of my career that starts next year as I become a school librarian. I think I will have opportunities to create my own blog, use Twitter for ideas and collaboration, and using Web 2.0 to make the library relevant and engaging for all students.

Basically, my professional digital footprint has improved through this class, while my private life stays private! It's the best of all worlds and I'm happy I had the opportunity to make my professional digital footprint bigger!
